The cabin
Is the hot tub open in winter?
Yes. The private hot tub is open all year.
Can we use the fireplace?
Yes. The stone fireplace in the living room runs from mid-October through April.
Can we cook Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at the cabin?
Yes. The kitchen has a full-size oven and stove, a crockpot, a dishwasher, a coffee maker, real knives and enough serving dishes for 6. Guests tell us it's one of the best-stocked kitchens they've seen in a rental.
Where does everyone sleep?
Upstairs: a king suite, a queen room with a couch bed, and a bunk room with log bunk beds. Downstairs there's a sleeper sofa in the living room. The cabin sleeps 6, plus up to 2 infants.
Is the bunk room OK for adults?
The log bunk beds work best for kids and teens. Groups of adults usually spread out across the king suite, the queen room, its couch bed and the living room sofa bed.
How big is the second shower?
It's a small shower. Most families end up using the main bathroom's shower.
Is the road to the cabin steep?
It's paved, and any car handles it in fair weather. Plan your first arrival for daylight if you can. Bedrooms are upstairs.
Is the road safe in snow or ice? Do I need 4WD?
The road up is paved, steep and winding. In snow or ice we recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicle. If you can, plan your first arrival for daylight.
Can I use GPS to find the cabin?
GPS sometimes misses the final turn. We send you directions before you arrive.
Is there cell service at the cabin?
The WiFi is solid throughout the cabin.
Will we see bears?
Keep food inside and lock your car, even in the driveway. Yes, they can open car doors.
Winter and holidays
Is Dollywood open over Christmas and New Year's?
Yes. Smoky Mountain Christmas runs Nov. 6, 2026 to Jan. 3, 2027. After that the park closes for its winter break. Check Dollywood's calendar for daily hours. Source
What's open in the Smokies in January and February?
Winterfest lights in Pigeon Forge run through Jan. 31, 2027. Ober Gatlinburg has ski and snow activities in the colder months, roughly November to March. Cades Cove Loop Road is open sunrise to sunset, and the park can close roads for snow or ice. Dollywood is closed after Jan. 3, and Kuwohi Road and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail close to cars after Nov. 29 until spring. Source
Do we need a parking pass for the national park?
Yes. Parking more than 15 minutes anywhere in Great Smoky Mountains National Park needs a parking tag: $5 a day, $15 a week or $40 a year. National park passes don't count. Source
Booking
Why book direct instead of on Airbnb?
There's no guest service fee, you see the full total before you pay, and you deal with Christi directly instead of a platform.
Is my booking confirmed right away?
Checkout sends a booking request. Christi reviews it and confirms your stay. Nothing is final until it's accepted.
What's the cancellation policy?
Full refund if you cancel within 24 hours after your booking is accepted. After that, a 50% refund if you cancel at least 10 days before check-in. No refund within 9 days of check-in.
When do I pay?
Pay in full, or in up to three installments scheduled around the cancellation dates. If a payment doesn't go through, you have 48 hours to fix it before the booking is cancelled.
Is there a security deposit?
A $500 refundable deposit is held on your card (not charged) about 2 days before check-in and released about 2 days after checkout if there's no damage. Your bank may take 5 to 10 business days to show the release.
Is there an ID check?
At checkout you'll verify your ID with a photo ID and a quick selfie. Returning guests with a valid ID on file can skip this.
How many guests can stay?
Up to 6 guests, plus up to 2 infants. Children are welcome. Up to 2 infants under age 2 are welcome and don't count toward the 6-guest limit.
Are pets, smoking or events allowed?
No pets, no smoking, no parties or events. Kids and infants are welcome.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Self check-in from 4:00 PM. Check-out by 11:00 AM. Eastern Time.
